Hi, I'm Runa👋

Hello and welcome! I’m glad you’re curious to learn a little about who I am.

🌼 Designing for Connection

  • I’m a UX designer who finds inspiration in nature, people, and the stories we share. My journey has always been about creating meaningful connections—whether through design, teaching, or research. Previously, I worked as a UX/UI designer for companies based in the U.S., the U.K., and Japan, gaining cross-cultural experience that continues to influence my design approach.

🌼 Nature & Fishing

  • Nature is my biggest source of inspiration, and fishing is my favorite way to immerse myself in it. I’m passionate about translating the energy and beauty I experience in nature into the products I design.

🌼 Cultural Exchange

  • I love cultural exchange. My experience as an online Japanese language tutor has deepened my interest in other cultures, as well as my appreciation for the beauty of Japanese language and culture. In my design work, I always approach projects with respect for history, culture, and the people who will use them.

🌼 Research & HCI

  • During my university years, I focused on Human-Computer Interaction (HCI). My research project involved developing a blink detection system to help alleviate dry eyes. This experience showed me how technology can directly improve people’s well-being—a perspective that continues to guide my design work today.
I believe technology should be used for people and nature, to make the world a better place.

🌼 Hobby

  • Awa Odori : Awa Odori is a traditional dance from Tokushima with over 400 years of history. I love how every movement, rhythm, and costume reflects Japanese culture
  • Violin : I started playing the violin just a year ago. I enjoy taking on new challenges, and this curiosity shapes how I approach design and create meaningful experiences.
